Graduates with a Diver Certification Board of Canada (DCBC) will be approved for commercial deep diving outside and inside the U.S.

The International Diving Institute (IDI) announced that they will now be offering DCBC Unrestricted Surface-Supplied Diver certifications, furthering their status as one of the premier commercial diving schools in the world. This certification is only offered to accredited schools with experienced supervisors who demonstrate the highest level of training standards.

DCBC is recognized by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) and is valid internationally, as well as within the U.S. With more offshore companies requesting deep dive experience, students with DCBC will have ample career paths.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to open up new job markets for students and make them more valuable as commercial divers,” said IDI General Manager Michael Hielscher.

DCBC courses begin at IDI on April 3. ADCI-certified commercial divers who have previously completed their 640 hours at IDI can come back for a 200-hour, 5-week top-off course to upgrade their status and be eligible for deep diving work around the world. IDI General Manager Michael Hielscher is thrilled to be able to offer DCBC—the only national body which certifies offshore and inshore occupational divers in Canada.

“We believe that by offering DCBC Unrestricted Surface-Supplied Diver certifications, IDI will be second to none when it comes to diving institutions that offer effective training programs and have the accreditation that will help graduates find careers within the industry,” Hielscher said.

Located at the old naval base in Charleston, SC, IDI is renowned for offering Tru Environment training in waters that commercial divers have worked in for decades.
