HAZWOPER/HAZMAT

This 40-hour course covering HAZMAT and HAZWOPER procedures includes land-based principles, as well as information specific to underwater environments for commercial divers. It closely follows the OSHA guidelines for Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response.

Health and Safety
Health and safety training and disaster response preparedness for individuals working in the marine shipping industry.
The Incident Command System
The standardized approach to the command, control and coordination of emergency response.
Site Management
Guidelines for safe approach, establishing hazard control zones, carrying out actions, setting up command and more for hazmat incidents.
Hazard Assessment and Risk
Analyze problems, assess hazards, evaluate risks and determine the appropriate actions for hazmat incidents.
Selecting Protective Clothing and Diving Equipment
: Preparing for the worst by selecting the hazmat garments that provide the most protection and the equipment that is best for the job.
Information Management and Resource Coordination
The information needed to safely manage a hazmat incident and how to coordinate multiple parties at the incident.
Implementing Response Objectives
How to use your plan in accordance with local emergency response plans and standard operating procedures.
Decontamination for Underwater and Topside HAZMAT Operations
HAZMAT Operations: Assessing the severity of hazards and quickly determining the best decontamination strategy going forward.
Terminating the Incident
Debriefing, post-incident analysis, incident critique, reporting and the final steps to take after hazmat incidents.
